Design and implementation of face-based attendance system

Abstract

Modern institutions seek to utilize intelligent technologies to improve their administrative systems and enhance the efficiency of daily operations. Attendance management is considered one of the most important systems that require accuracy, speed, and reliability. The research problem lies in the limitations of traditional attendance registration methods، such as manual signing, cards, and fingerprint systems, due to their susceptibility to manipulation and lack of efficiency and accuracy. This research aims to design and implement an intelligent attendance and departure system based on face recognition technology to improve registration accuracy, reduce processing time، and minimize errors and manipulation. The significance of this research lies in providing a modern automated system that enhances administrative efficiency, facilitates monitoring processes, and reduces dependence on traditional procedures. The study adopted an applied methodology, where the system was first simulated using a static image in Processing software to test the face recognition mechanism، followed by practical implementation using an ESP32-CAM module، with a database created to store user information and attendance records. The results demonstrated the successful operation of the proposed system in recognizing faces and recording attendance and departure.
