The Electricity Crisis in Sudan: between Quick Solutions and Opportunities for Transitioning to Sustainable Energy

Abstract

The electricity crisis in Sudan, characterized by power outages that negatively impact daily life and the economy, involves a set of research objectives aimed at analyzing the current situation and identifying the political, economic, and infrastructural causes of the crisis. The study also explores immediate solutions such as improving the management of the electrical grid and enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors. A key focus is the transition to sustainable energy, highlighting the significant potential of solar energy in Sudan as a clean, sustainable option that can reduce reliance on fossil fuels and improve electricity access, especially in rural areas. Proposed solutions include investing in renewable energy and implementing effective policies to attract investments, which would help address the electricity crisis and transform the energy sector in Sudan.
