Abstract
Abstract:
This research presents a comprehensive analytical and technical study of
Precast Concrete Units, identifying them as a leading structural solution
within the modern construction landscape. The study aims to evaluate their
mechanical and structural properties while conducting a precise technical
and economic comparison with traditional cast-in-place concrete.
The theoretical framework includes an in-depth analysis of the essential
components of concrete, beginning with the physical and chemical
properties of aggregates and cement. It further explores the fundamental
role of concrete admixtures and polymers (both natural and synthetic) in
enhancing structural performance and durability. Furthermore, the research
reviews the principles of concrete mix design to ensure a balance between
economic efficiency and design quality.
In the practical application, the research focuses on a case study for
designing a simple precast concrete support beam, including load and
resistance calculations, material quantity estimation, and projected costs.
The results indicate that precast concrete units excel significantly in terms
of time feasibility and achieve superior quality control due to
manufacturing in a controlled environment.
The research concludes that adopting precast concrete in Public housing
project is economical and sustainable .
