HEC-RAS النمذجة الهايدروليكية لسريان الفيضانات في وادي طوكر باستخدام

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a hydraulic modeling of floods in Wadi Tokar, addressing the recurring threats these floods pose to lives, infrastructure, and agricultural lands in the region. The primary problem lies in the dynamic nature of the wadi and the difficulty of predicting runoff behavior during high-peak flood events The methodology adopted an analytical approach using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS) to simulate water movement and define inundation zones for various return periods (e.g., 10, 50, and 100 years). The methodology involved analyzing historical hydrological data and utilizing high-resolution Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) to accurately represent the wadi’s topography . . and its channels The study reached several key findings, most notably the identification of critical zones highly susceptible to flood risks. The modeling results indicated that is the most affected by flow depth and velocity. Furthermore, the findings demonstrated the model's high capability in predicting inundation areas with an accuracy of compared to observed historical data . The study recommends the establishment of an early warning system based on hydraulic modeling results. It also suggests implementing engineering protection measures, such as diversion dams, at the weak points identified by the model to minimize destructive impacts and ensure the optimal utilization of floodwaters for agriculture
