Abstract
Abstract:
This study aims to highlight the role of maintenance in improving industrial
productivity through a field-based analytical study conducted at the Berber Cement
Factory in the River Nile State during the year 2021. The study focused on evaluating
the maintenance systems and methods in place and analyzing their relationship with
productivity levels in terms of both quantity and quality
The problem addressed in this research lies in the fact that many factories suffer from
low productivity due to the absence or weakness of effective maintenance programs,
which leads to frequent breakdowns and unplanned downtimes. The study sought to
answer several questions regarding the types of maintenance applied, the impact of
maintenance effectiveness on economic and production performance, and the
challenges facing the implementation of maintenance programs
The study adopted a descriptive and analytical methodology and utilized data
collection tools such as questionnaires, interviews, and reviews of technical reports.
Statistical analysis tools including regression, correlation coefficient, and ANOVA
were employed using SPSS or Excel software
The findings revealed a statistically significant positive relationship between the
efficiency of maintenance systems and increased productivity. They also
demonstrated that reducing breakdowns through preventive maintenance helps
minimize downtimes and improve overall performance. Additionally, the study
indicated that the high costs of predictive maintenance can be offset by improved
operational efficiency and reduced losses from production stoppages
In light of these results, the study recommends developing an integrated model to
enhance maintenance efficiency, incorporating preventive scheduling continuous
training, and the use of technology, all of which contribute to increased productivity
and high operational performance
